Takin the Long Way Home

She took the long way home that day
stopping to smell the flowers
She sat upon the fragrant mossy boulders
down by the riverside

She listened to the wind and heard her name
whispered within the breezes
She watched the birds in flight
They, alighting on branches to watch her

She was a part of this place
she was nature as well
We are all natural
We are all connected

He was there too, yet unseen
In some undeniable way
she had felt him there
for so long already

Till the day he finds his way
to her by the river
She'll be takin' the long way home
now and again

Just to see when he gets there
