Downriver

He shared his secrets
wrapped up in lies
As he tried to shed his regrets
While traveling her thighs

On his knees
On his last legging
She couldn't hear his pleas
Through all the begging

"Touch me" he said
Then he ran away
Being chased by deep dread
Running past the light of deep day

Demons, demise, love denied
Not because she did not give it
But love that true and refined...
He could not allow himself to live it

Secrets and lies kill the truth
Until we are standing alone, old
No fix calms the loss of our youth
We find ourselves defined by the lies we told

The unknown before us
Fear behind.... guilt caving in the sides
The trouble with repeating an untrue chorus
Is when the secrets and lies collide

And we are blown into tiny pieces
Of the self we ran blindly from
Till one day the lie finally ceases
As it melts in the blinding brilliant sun

Send our fears far away...downriver
Face our value...own our worth
Life's too precious....it's time to deliver
The beauty of the truth we will birth
