Here and Now

A soldier he was, alone..or so he thought
Content to live fighting the battles that he fought
for others
He needs to assist those that need help..here and now

She knew she would be his hand to hold
Finally allowing peace in his heart so bold
She would be the one to guide him
To his own needs..here and now

He grew too quick and wanted to run away
She gave him the space he requested...hoping he would stay
Stay, he did
He was brave and real and wanting to be held...here and now

Hold him she did, and he learned to hold her too
Funny, he thought, as he realized all that she knew
He also knew inside himself
They knew each other here and now

Soldiers led to the same place on a path
A place they had been in the past
Perhaps they mastered love last time
And share it again here and now

Or perhaps their love was whisked away suddenly
In a life they they shared with the rolling sea
This time they are allowing it
To grow here and now

These days are becoming brighter
and souls once heavy are lighter
Illuminated in the truth
That they are living life joined here and now
