Love, Like A Pirate

Treasure chest
flung wide open
Or locked up tight
as the lips of
a spy
Love lives in my treasure
chest
I can share it wide or I
can lock it deep
inside

Deep and wide
or locked up
inside
Why do I feel the need
to hide
When love, like a pirate
comes creeping
Wanting all the treasure
I've been keeping

My heart....a relic of
grand worth
It's been with me
since the day
of my birth
Beating in my chest
full of the treasures
of time
My memories, my moments
My watercolor
masterpieces....painted
with a magic brush
Lifting colors
from a
palette of pure
love

Deep and wide
or locked up
inside
Why do I feel the need
to hide
When love, like a pirate
comes creeping
Wanting all the treasure
I've been keeping

Perhaps I turn the tides
What if I invite love in?
I've never tried
I'll fling my chest open
And as... my the gold glints and
gleams in the sun
The pirate love can come
in the day full of light
Instead of stealing in late
at night
Then, I will be awake
not sleeping
Ready to share the bounty
I've been keeping

Open wide
No longer locked up
inside
Ain't no need
to hide
When love, like a pirate invited
lands on my shore
I will share all the treasure
I have in store
