Fly Flags of Flowers

Hey, what ever happened to that
peace thing?
What ever happened to loving
your brother
ALL your brothers and
sisters?

Why do we still argue about
skin color
or ethnicity?

Why are some of us so
afraid of ourselves
still
That we will attack
another person
For any reason....

Hard to say?
Figure it out, friend

Whatever happened
to love
and caring and
feeding those souls
that starve?

What ever happened
to sharing
and not littering
the planet

Hard to say?
Clean this place up!

What ever
happened to
common decency?

What happened
to you and
me

Hard to say?
Where are you under all that
everyday damage?

Climb with me to that
ground high
Let us lift our voices
again

Hold my hand in your hippie
skirt and bare feet
Don your patchouli
pungent
Fly flags of flowers around
your neck

Love me free, comb my
hair...flowing
Dance in the streets in the mid
day sun
Take a day off work and
take a nap in the park

Fly flags of flowers from
windows
Hand flowers out to the wandering
strangers
void of beauty in their
lives

What happened to us
people?

Hard to say?
Make it easy once
again

Roadmaps....

Above the river is a place
my heart has known forever
And my soul takes this space
With me where ever
I go

Between the piney trees
I gaze upon the river's shore
The air so crisp and free
Realigning me ...once more

On the ground up high
We are closer to the stars
As they illuminate the midnight sky
And heal our deeply seated scars

We wear our scars with honored pride
As road maps of our travels
Now our hearts converge from far and wide
To reconnect what has unraveled

In Illinois we will once again be found
Singing, laughing, releasing the ache in our bones
As we stand together on higher ground
Between the pines and with the stones

Brother to Brother?

Disdain for breakfast
Disrespect for lunch
Depravity for dessert

Kick them when they're down
Never a thought of picking them up?
"I got mine, screw you" ....the mantra of madness many mumble

How is it that we escalate professional teams to lofty positions
We honor them for the teamwork they display
But then, we do not see ourselves as one connected team?

We are going down fast, people
We are drowning in our own greed
and the truth is that we won't make it if we don't change

Money and false power won't save us
Botox and fat from our asses to plump our faces
Won't cushion the blow of destruction

Wake up, HAVES!
The HAVE NOTS are increasing and multiplying
if we go down, you go down

This is a shout out to brothers everywhere
The brothers and sisters of existence
If I am hurt.... so are you, injured

Pick me up
Hold me tight
And I will live, and so will you

Rain on Me?

Do you see the rain as washing you clean or drowning you?
It can wash you if you see it for what it is..... a cleanse
It can drown you if you fear change and growth

Let yourself be washed clean of the heavy toll you carry
Let the rain of change wash you anew
Perhaps you can breathe under water
