Heavy Metal....for John Sutter

What price gold?
Oh....the sacrifice to hold
the precious piece in my possession
The introduction to my buried obsession
More, more, quench my thirst
Take, I can take if I find it first
Courting my overwhelming greed

My steps encumbered, know the impede
Of my ever building lecherous lust
My own instincts I no longer trust
What price this magic from the river bed
Never have I known my life so dead
Rewind and turn back time's hands
I would, returning to my simple plans
If only I had never bent down
To the call of the demon drowning in the ground
In the deepest parts of the depths of me
I curse the day I discovered alchemy
The current delivered me a life unsettled
Too costly to carry, this heavy metal

Like A Whisper......For John

http://www.twistedrootstudios.com

Gold in his pocket
yet he was still poor
For gold means nuthin'
if you are wandering the wilderness
of your own life

If I do not see my own value
How do I value any other thing
Gold in my pocket
yet I am still poor

A man of sorrow even as
a boy
he grew into his legacy
So sad, such a waste
of a soul
Spirit broken, never reclaimed
I send love and healing
to my pioneer husband
So very long ago
It does not seem real now
Was it real?

If I do not see my own value
How do I value any other thing
Gold in my pocket
yet I am still poor

Love was a foreign language
to him
No way to translate the
dialect
So, he let go the gold he discovered
in the river beds
of his long and labored life
He did not recognize the
glimmer and the
gleam

If I do not see my own value
How do I value any other thing
Gold in my pocket
yet I am still poor

Gone now, passed on
Away...like a whisper that
never found its
lover's ear
Sometimes late in the night
I think I hear it come
back around
Yet, it fades in the early break
of another day
The haunted whisper
of words unsaid
Unspoken
Unknown

Dear rider of the great wilderness
It is my sincere hope
My wish for you
That your life lived next time
Is one of your allowance
of love
The love of the one person
you
must
love
first

If I do not see my own value
How do I value any other thing
Gold in my pocket
yet I am still poor

Golden Affliction

Relentless struggle
Cravin the gold
Needing more, wanting
all
The addiction.......
The affliction of
lack
Greed and gratitude in the same bed
do not rest
One lives in lust, the other
love
In the shadow of greed
nothing grows

Lusting after the
tangible tasty golden
granule
Killing, saving, panning
dying
Some prosper for all their
trying
Others are trampled in the
turmoil
Never to want or need
or crave or live
again
Casualties of greed
Murderers of grace and
gratitude
Dead as the promise
of fame and
fortune

Saddest truth?
In the hands of these
greed laden
hate mongers....
Was already what they sought
Already what they had lusted after
Already what they had
stolen
The land, the sky, the meadows
the springs
Golden glory in the palm
of their five fingered
hands
They never knew they
possessed such
gilded gifts

And so the cycle of greed
continued
As it does to this day
Look around you
Have you found your
fortune......
intangible
Let gratitude live today
Be grateful for the
moments gilded
and golden

Relentless struggle
Cravin the gold
Needing more, wanting
all
The addiction....
The affliction of
lack
Greed and gratitude in the same bed
do not rest
One lives in lust, the other
in love
In the shadow of greed
nothing grows

The Fail and the Prosper

in the fail we also prosper
if you loved and you have lost her
let her go...she is not gold

the prosper comes in wisdom's growth
you have gained and lost... you now know both
befriend them

in the prosper we know many fails
a fail is never a loss when wisdom prevails
no mistakes.... just lessons

allow the fail and the prosper...it is a tale very old
often you get nothin' when you are panning for gold
your riches are revealed in your widening wisdom
