You offer your shoulder
yet, I turn away
Same shoulder.....staunch
and strong
Peaceful where it meets
your neck
My burrow in the old
days
The place I rested my head
as you whispered in
my ear
"I love you"

And yet, I turn away

Playing in the pictures
of the
past
The many books
of fading
photographs
As I stroll in the memories
I find inside the
pages
My smile grows wide
across
my face
Yet.....
The truth is.....home
base
is changing for this
wanderer
I won't be here much
longer
I am called to the
tides that
Turn me away
