The Head and the Heart

Love is killing us
ya know?
We say stay, and still
they go
We ask for the truth
and get a little
white
lie
One more time love's
given
us a big black
eye

We'd run away to the hills
if we could
But, perhaps we dig
feeling misunderstood
Silly to think about it
this way
But, why else do we constantly
set our love on
"delay"

Hey... humans, let's
make love
what we want it to
be
The coo and the cuddle
and the
deep, wild ecstasy
We crave it, we fight battles
for it
And over and over we
belittle
it

The head and the heart
keep fucking with
each other
Keep it up and we'll
all end up living
with our mothers
Retuning home with our
heads bowed
so low
"Mom, can I move in?"
And Mom will answer with
a shit eatin' grin
"Sorry, honey, I've got special
company"
"Ya, see, Mama's getting some and
it feels so good"
"But, I'd let ya in if I could"

So, it's up to us to make it
work
Allow yourself to be loved
Stop being a silly
jerk
If you want something say
it
Honor love, no longer
delay it
Say yes when you mean
yes
Do not feign fright
and distress
Saddle up, straddle that
horse
Jump in the river and
follow
her course
Be hot and wet
and wild
Or tame and meek
and mild
Inside us....we carry
that
all
Pick up the phone....
it's love
on the call
