Cut the Chord

the loose end had been dangling
for some time now
the empty end of the cord
that connects our hearts
getting in my way
tripping me up
as I found myself on the floor of my life
far too frequently
the chord that sings between us
was cut
in the process of me picking myself
off of that hard, cold floor
it happened yesterday
as I traveled to the place she spoke about
as I found myself in the violet vortex
where the red rocks commune
her words echoing mine
"the answers live inside of us"
somehow, for a moment brief, yet long lasting
I had forgotten
until she reminded me
as I lay there on the safe, warm floor
we had all just danced upon
with the sun streaming in the skylight
above my humbled head
clouds drifted by as did the occasional plane full of folks
running away to far off places
searching for what they already possess
"the answers live inside of us"
in that moment...I severed the string
and just like that
as I stood up for what felt like the first time....
I cut the chord

Rescued....

He was running, faster and faster, his pulse pounding in his ears...looking behind him every now and again...."oh, good, they will not catch me tonight."

The dark and dank night held him hostage like this so often as he sank into what he hoped would be a peaceful slumber.....he craved it so. Instead, his mind brought him to the depths of his tarnished soul as its repeated torment rang out in his nightmares. It seemed he experienced them in daylight now as well; as he relived the intensity and immense fear they conjured up. He searched for and prayed for relief from this horrid existence.

Tonight his torture took him to the deepness of water, he was lost and alone in the dark, salty sea. Attempting to see anything in the darkness and stillness he was surrounded by. The panic began to set in and his pulse began its regular routine; the pace picking up, that redundant beat in his ears. He felt dizzy and disoriented, about to scream when he remembered he was underwater, he could not open his mouth.

As he felt himself about to give in, and give up, finally to be released from his continual pain, he felt a hand take his. He was jerked into the awareness of racing to the surface. As they broke through the waves, he gasped and breathed in hard, it hurt and ached in his lungs so much. He could not see who had saved him.......he did not care, really. They reached the sand of the beach,  he was dragged up onto the safety of the  sand and laid out on his back. The night felt comfortable and warm; he could make out the twinkle of the stars far off in the cloudless night sky above him.

Attempting to focus his eyes and come out of his hysteria, he caught a glimpse of her shape, "a woman"? he wondered "A woman saved me"? She hovered over him, making sure he was alive....she knelt beside him and leaned in, listening for the cadence of his breathing. Her wet hair brushed his face, she smelled of the sea and the surf and the promise of tomorrow's sun. He wanted to reach out to her, to speak, but he was unable to form the words. His pulse quickened again, for another reason this time and he reveled in how alive he felt. Returned to this place from the deepness of his despair, he sank into the sand beneath him.

As soon as she had come, she was departing.......he watched her slowly and seductively walk into the lush and tropical landscape that nestled around them. Just before she disappeared, the moon graced her form once more, and his soul cried out to be near her. He lay there, completely still, entranced.... summoning all of his strength... finally able to utter one word...

"Wait"!!!

Sacred Partnership

I had been on retreat, leading women to themselves. When I departed the sacred, still and seductive space of the home we all shared, I was filled with inner knowing and inner truth in very profound, yet subtle ways.

Not long after returning home, I heard the news of OBL's death. I do not believe that an eye for an eye heals anything in all cases. It may have in this case. I know that Bin Laden's time was up, he went home and the wounds he carried in his soul are now healed. I also feel that our president did not feel much joy in this situation, perhaps he felt accomplishment, but my soul tells me that his soul feels all the pain that comes from making orders to send our troops to war and to carry out the false wisdom of a war. He wants equality for our world, and I can get behind that. There must have been some sense of vindication and justice for the families that lost people in 9/11. Finally the correct person has been held accountable.

I  learned more about the way President Obama handled this delicate situation, with honor to the beliefs of Bin Laden's religion, with quiet wisdom, not bragging or beating his chest about this situation, but rather saving the news for the country and the world as a collective in the proper way.

He tied up the loose ends in a respectful, adult and very presidential way. I can say he is my president, not because the man OBL has been killed, but because of  who Obama is as a person, a world citizen and a president.

Seldom do I get involved in politics on a deep level. War is something I do not understand. I can say that I understand honor and humbleness, and caring for other people.

Today, may you feel like you are not on the treacherous mountain alone, but rather with other souls who feel the darkness and the light in the world. Others who know that there can be no light without the darkness, no darkness without the respite of the light.

I honor the sacred partnership of the light and the dark.

Impending Changes....

Change is a huge part of our lives. Often we get fearful around change or making a change or allowing a change. Think back to your child hood, change was a constant variable, almost daily, as you grew and explored and tested the waters, risked by stepping out of boundaries, receiving encouragement from peers along the way. When we were young, it seemed that adventure was a part of our gig.....skinned knees, first loves, the first time we accomplished something monumental.....wanting to accomplish more.

And then......as we headed off to college, or we get married, or we give away our youth.......something inside us died or hid deeply inside of us. We place all sorts of ideals on ourselves, or we allow society to do that for/to us.We have children, and work our jobs, buy our houses, pay our mortgage, because this what we are "supposed" to do. One day we pack away our adventurist gene, and often we forget it even existed.

Go look for that gene....dust it off.... it has been in a box for years among other memories of days past......let it be seen in the full light of day. Learn about your self now and who you have become.....who you want to become and what about yourself you are willing to be healed. Put on that pith helmet and explore in the dark recesses of your psyche, bring some of that youthful excitement back to your life.

If you find yourself fearing change, or dreading it.....perhaps you forgot to remember that you can CREATE it to look exactly the way you want it to look. You have a say in what happens to you!!!!

Let the loose ends teach you.......heal you and be a friend to you. For any thread that frays can be shored up with new thread. Any life worth living can be restored.....any change impending can be illuminated and transformed any way you want it to be.

You really ARE THAT POWERFUL !
